“From the darkest depths of the ocean comes the ultimate fight for survival.”
So goes the new teaser for Nautilus, the adventure series that premieres with two episodes June 29 on AMC/AMC+. Check out first-look photos and the new teaser below.
Inspired by Jules Verne’s iconic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the 10-episode drams stars Shazad Latif (Black Mirror) as the iconic Captain Nemo — an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him.
He’s on a mission to enact revenge on the company that took everything from him. Nemo audaciously steals a prototype submarine from the penal colony in which he is imprisoned, escaping into the ocean with a motley crew of fellow prisoners. He plans to reach the fabled Viking treasure buried at the Pillars of Halvar. But first, he must win the trust of his crew and keep out of the clutches of the ruthless East India Mercantile Company, which will do whatever it takes to stop him.
The series also stars Georgia Flood, Céline Menville and Thierry Fremont, with guest appearances from Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv and Noah Taylor.
Nautilus began as a Disney+ series but was shelved amid cost-cutting in 2023. AMC rescued the oceanic drama two months later. It began streaming on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland in October.
Developed and produced by Moonriver TV’s Xavier Marchand and Seven Stories’ Anand Tucker, Nautilus is written and executive produced by James Dormer. EPs also include Johanna Devereaux, Chris Loveall, Colleen Woodcock and Daisy Gilbert.
