The Cinema Eye Honors, now in its 17th year, “recognizes outstanding artistic achievement in nonfiction and documentary films and series,” including directing, producing, cinematography, editing, composing, sound design, visual design “and recognizing the contributions of participants in front of the camera.”
Nominees in additional categories will be revealed on November 9. The 17th Cinema Eye Honors Awards will be presented January 12 at the New York Academy of Medicine in East Harlem.
In addition to broadcast categories, Cinema Eye today announced its Audience Choice Award Long List of 20 films; fans can vote beginning today to determine the winner of that award (past nominees have included RBG, Summer of Soul, Free Solo, and Navalny).
Cinema Eye also announced the 10 films to make this year’s Shorts List, the organization’s annual list of semi-finalists for its Nonfiction Short Film Honor (a maximum of six of those semi-finalists will claim nominations next month). And the awards show also announced its annual list of The Unforgettables — “a category unique to Cinema Eye that celebrates the collaboration between filmmakers and the participants in front of the camera.”
