ADULTS S2

FX’s Adults is an ensemble comedy series about a group of twenty-somethings in New York leaning on each other to navigate love, work, friendship and family. “Samir” (Malik Elassal), “Billie” (Lucy Freyer), “Paul Baker” (Jack Innanen), “Issa” (Amita Rao) and “Anton” (Owen Thiele) are five friends crashing together in Samir’s childhood home. Created by Ben Kronengold & Rebecca Shaw, the show puts a generational lens on the wins, losses and humiliations of being in your twenties.

Over eight episodes, the housemates tackle a new set of real-world questions. What if the 20-year-old who inherited your fake ID is cooler than you ever were, and younger than you’ll ever be again? How do you explain to your friends that you actually love your boring office job? Why does being around your family make you regress into your worst self? And how do you ask for things to change, when you also need everything to stay the same? Together, the friends weave intricate webs of multi-player strategy just to avoid hurting someone else’s feelings. They invent elaborate workarounds for problems they’re too afraid to face head-on. It’s not so much that they keep learning the same lessons – it’s that they keep finding new ways to make mistakes. But the one thing they consistently get right: showing up for each other.

DEAR ENGALND

Based on the Olivier Award-winning play, Dear England charts the game-changing rebirth of England’s national game, football, at the hands of an unlikely disruptor - one haunted by his own failure - against the backdrop of unprecedented political, social, and cultural turmoil.

In 2016, England hits rock bottom. At a moment of national and sporting crisis, England - the country that invented football - suffers a humiliating tournament defeat. The nation is fractured, uncertain of who it is - and what it stands for.

The unexpected saviour brought in to save England is the poster boy of its ‘failure’ - Gareth Southgate. Within this traditionally masculine world, Gareth is infamous as the cerebral and introverted former defender who missed a crucial penalty in the Euro 1996 semi-final, destroying the last real chance of breaking the ‘curse’.

After “fifty years of hurt” since the nation’s only trophy, Gareth becomes the manager of a broken team and a jaded fanbase. Carrying the weight of his own past, he sets out to rebuild, not just a team, but an entire culture. With psychologist Pippa Grange, Gareth introduces a progressive new approach - one that redefines the meaning of masculinity, leadership and success. This is the surprising story of how the entire culture and mindset of a team were radically altered, all in the pursuit of finally bringing football home.

Dear England reframes the classic underdog story and asks the question: if you can change the outlook of a football team, can you change a whole nation?

EVERY YEAR AFTER

We meet Percy Fraser—a young woman working as an obituary writer in Seattle—when she gets the shocking news that a beloved person in her life, Sue Florek, has passed away. It’s been over a decade since she left Barry’s Bay and spoken to anyone from town… particularly the Florek brothers. Flooded with emotions and memories of her past mistakes, Percy is reluctant to go—so her best friend, Chantal, joins her for moral support. Once in Barry's Bay—the quintessential Canadian lake town—Percy starts bumping into people from her past without the warmest welcome, and it looks like all her worst fears are coming true. When she finally reconnects with her first love, Sam Florek, things only get more confusing, and—although she won't admit it—exciting. As the week leading up to the memorial goes by, Percy remembers her very first summer at the lake, 15 years ago, when her life changed forever…
