Cinematographer Steve Yedlin, ASC is joined by interviewer Dave Perkal, ASC to discuss his work on Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery — director Rian Johnson’s sequel to his twisty 2019 whodunit, Knives Out.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery follows distinguished detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), whose investigation of the death of a tech billionaire leads him to a mansion on a private island in Greece. The film marks Yedlin's sixth collaboration with Johnson, following Brick (2005), The Brothers Bloom (2008), Looper (2012), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) and Knives Out.
In this interview, Yedlin discusses his long-time working relationship with Johnson; his approach to shooting daylight exteriors; and his strategy for filming coverage on a production that featured a large ensemble cast.
